Splot is proud to present a kilim by Zofia Stryjeńska, was acquired from the archives of Professor Szulcha. Stryjeńska is considered to be one of the most successful Polish Art Deco artists. She presented her works at the now famed International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris in 1925, was awarded at the Venice Biennale, her works decorated the interiors of Polish ocean liners, and she designed a kilim for the Emperor of Japan. She sold many of her kilim designs, including this one, to the largest pre-war weaving workshop in Gliniany, owned by Mikhail Chamuła.
