The author on her kilim Wacław:
There is something optimistic in linearity, and consistency in the continuity of lines. Is that why I am so absorbed by Wacław Szpakowski's drawings? I have a soft spot for the work of architects, engineers, such as Oskar Hansen, Buckminster Fuller, and of course Wacław Szpakowski, as well as the contemporary Philip Rahm. Arguably, it is about reflection, order, principle, complexity, which lead patiently to a solution, but also promise a continuation. Thus, Wacław was created as a memory of awe, a true aesthetic experience, which I experienced by running my finger and eye along a line drawn by Szpakowski, listening to a melody line played on the violin by Adam Bałdych, following its fractal score. What I experienced then, I still carry in my memory to this day. Reflecting on the order and simplicity of a kilim's structure and meditating on a probable new form that would reflect my fascination with Szpakowski, but also my perverse nature and tendency to use color boldly, led to the creation of “Wacław.”
