Splot is proud to present a kilim by Józef Czajkowski, an artist who represented Poland at the now famed International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris in 1925. The kilim is woven according to the original design, part of Professor Szulga's archival collection, hence the use of Czajkowski’s original colors, which seem all the more surprising, since the kilim was primarily known from black and white photographs.

Józef Czajkowski, born in Warsaw, was a multi-talented artist, accomplished in the fields of painting, architecture as well as design. One of his greatest achievements was his artistic success at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris in 1925, where he was awarded a gold medal in the field of architecture and design, for his works displayed at exhibitions in the Polish pavilion and the Grand Palais, with the Paris kilim in the vanguard.
